Protect files by adding a user and owner password. This action requires a server-side helper (qpdf) or a commercial JS SDK. A sample server endpoint is included below.

Note: For browser-only protection you can use commercial SDKs (e.g., Apryse, Dynamsoft). The sample below will POST files to /api/protect which must be implemented server-side (example Node/qpdf included in docs).

How it works

This runs entirely in your browser using PDF-Lib. You must provide passwords for protected PDFs. The tool cannot bypass passwords or remove protections without proper authorization.
